Pedro Mairal

Pedro Mairal was born in Buenos Aires in 1970. His debut novel Una noche con Sabrina Love received the Clarín Prize in 1998 and was adapted to film. His novel La uruguaya was also adapted into a film in 2023. He has also published the novels El año del desierto and Salvatierra; the short story collection Breves amores eternos; and the poetry collections Tigre como los pájaros, Consumidor final, and Pornosonetos. In 2007, he was named one of the best young Latin American authors by the Hay Festival Bogotá39 jury. In 2013, he published the novel in sonnets El gran surubí. His crónicas and columns have been published in Maniobras de evasión and Esta historia ya no está disponible. His latest novel is titled Los nuevos. Mairal’s work has been translated into over 14 languages.
