Camila Gutiérrez was born in 1985. She studied Literature at the Universidad de Chile and got a Masters in Journalism at the Universidad Católica. She has contributed to a number of print publications including El Sábado, Gatopardo and The Clinic. She was co-writer on Joven y alocada (Young and Wild), a movie based on her life. The movie won Best Screenplay at Sundance in 2012 and her book (on which the movie was based) was a runaway bestseller. She lives in New York City.
