Todas mis cosas en tus bolsillos

“These are hardly love poems. They are poems about my love. About a love, I should say. They are also poems of desire. So who, other than my boyfriend, or the close friends who care about me, or even myself, could possibly be interested in them? I fear others may find them rather boring. They probably will.
Fray Luis once wrote about a passage in the book Solomon made for his beloved: if someone watches a couple dancing from a distance, without hearing the music that moves them, then, deaf to that music, all they will see is a pair of figures flailing about like idiots.
And it's true. But Fray Luis also believed that this is precisely why writings about love matter, and why they are beautiful. Because sometimes they manage to evoke that music, the music the two dancers once moved to. Perhaps, despite my clumsiness, I have been able to make a little of it heard in these pages. I hope so.”

“Todas mis cosas en tus bolsillos is a collection of traces and invocations of love addressed to someone who is absent, written on the very edge of absence itself. It is a necklace of poems about death, as all poems born of ‘a love’ ultimately are.””
