Fernando Molano Vargas

Fernando Molano Vargas (Bogotá, 1961-1998) was a Colombian novelist, poet, and literary critic whose work has become a touchstone of contemporary Latin American queer literature. His debut novel, Un beso de Dick, won the Medellín Chamber of Commerce National Novel Prize in 1992 and has since become a cult classic, celebrated for its tender, groundbreaking portrayal of adolescent love between two boys in Bogotá. Published posthumously, Vista desde una acera further cemented his reputation, while his poetry collection Todas mis cosas en tus bolsillos revealed the lyric intensity that runs throughout his work. Nearly three decades after his death, Molano's writing continues to be rediscovered by new readers and has secured a lasting place in the Spanish-language literary canon.
