Proyecto Manhattan

Proyecto Manhattan sets a polyphonic stage where different voices linked to the creation of the atomic bomb interact. Through a series of interlaced monologues, this hybrid book takes elements from dramaturgy to recover and highlight the role that different women played in the Manhattan Project. Among the voices in this chorus, we hear those of Jean Tatlock (psychiatrist, suicide victim, and creator of the bomb Robert Oppenheimer’s former partner), Kitty Oppenheimer (Robert’s wife and the mother of his children), the Oak Ridge women (a group of workers who, without knowing it, contributed to the development of the nuclear weapon), and Leona Woods (the only woman physically involved in the construction of the world’s first nuclear reactor). The voices that witnessed its birth from the shadows circle point zero of the detonation of an instant, massive death.
