Los insectos invisibles
Emiliano Monge

CHILDREN'S | 2013 | 46 pages

Tiger Ant, Toxic Centipede and Beetle Scavenger are the three most boring, hopeless and apathetic insects in the dump: they don't like to play or go to school or read or go to the bathroom. They don't like to make the slightest effort! The dream of these three friends is to stay frolicking on their backs, observing the passage of clouds without ever having to worry about anything. That's why they skip school to hang out on the udder of an appetizing dead cow: they're convinced that nobody will find them there. They can't imagine, however, that an enormous warty toad is stalking them and will soon start following them. Neither can they imagine that in their flight they will find even greater dangers, evidence that will lead them to the eighth circle of hell: the vicious circle, from which only those insects that transform their attitude to life can escape. Emiliano Monge's Los insectos invisibles, beautifully illustrated by Adrián Pérez Acosta, is a funny fable that tackles the complicated theme of childhood depression.
