Karina Pacheco Medrano

Karina Pacheco Medrano (Cusco, Peru, 1969) — writer, anthropologist, and editor — has a PhD in American Anthropology from the Complutense University of Madrid. She is the author of the novels Las orillas del aire (2017); El bosque de tu nombre (2013, 2019); Cabeza y orquídeas (2012), winner of the National Federico Villareal Novel Award in 2010; La sangre, el polvo, la nieve (2010); No olvides nuestros nombres (2009, 2015), winner of the Regional Novel Prize awarded by the National Institute of Culture in Cusco; and La voluntad del molle (2006, 2016). She is also the author of the story collections Lluvia (2018); Miradas. Antología de cuentos (2015); El sendero de los rayos (2013, 2018), winner of El Comercio's Luces y Artes Awards for the best story collection published in 2013; and Alma alga (2010). 

Stories, articles, and essays by her have been published in numerous anthologies and literary magazines in Latin America and Europe. She is the director of Ceques Editores, an independent publisher that specializes in Literature, History, and Anthropology. In her free time, she dedicates herself to mountaineering.
