En lengua privada
Emiliano Monge
FICTION | 2026 | 240 pages
The stories in En lengua privada [In Private Language] challenge their own fictional nature by venturing into statements and strategies that seem more fitting to an essay or a crónica. Although these texts seem to play at disguising themselves in the garb of other genres, they do not deny what they are, for each one ultimately reveals, through dialogue and dramatic tension, the intimate secrets of writing and the moments that make up a rather unique life. Here, the author reveals the creativity of memory and forgetting as well as the reasons for tracing our own experience through poetry, the multifaceted nature of the voices that inhabit us and those we encounter, and the unsettling presence of the double.
This book is, in turn, a reading diary in which the words of Sada, Montalbetti, Kristof, Moore, Coetzee and Di Benedetto infuse with meaning those moments when the ‘illness of language’ produces its most searing symptoms. In the background, Emiliano Monge, author and character, re-reads his past (or perhaps his future?) in these pages.
