Jazmina Barrera

Jazmina Barrera (Mexico City, 1988) was a fellow at the Foundation for Mexican Letters and the recipient of residencies at Casa Estudio Cien Años de Soledad. She was a Fonca Young Creators fellow and studied Creative Writing in Spanish at NYU with the help of a Fulbright grant. Her work has been published in magazines like The Paris Review, El País, Words Without Borders, Malpensante, Electric Literature, and The New York Times, among others. She is the author of Cuerpo extraño, Cuaderno de faros, Linea nigra, Los nombres de los animales, and Punto de Cruz. Her essay collection Cuerpo extraño (Foreign Body) was awarded the 2013 Latin American Voices Prize. Linea nigra was a finalist for the CANIAEM Book of the Year award, the First Novel Prize, and the National Book Critics Circle Barrios Books in Translation Prize. Cuaderno de faros was longlisted for the Von Rezzori prize. Her books have been published in nine countries and translated into English, Italian, Dutch, and French. Jazmina is the co-founder of Ediciones Antílope. She lives in Mexico City.
