Before joining El País’s newsroom in Madrid, Jacobo García worked as a correspondent in Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean for over twenty years. He has worked for El Mundo and The Associated Press in Colombia. He edited the pieces that won the 2017 Gabo Prize for Innovation and the 2021 Gabo Prize for Best Reporting. He won the 2020/21 True Story Award and has collaborated on multiple anthologies about journalism and Latin America.
