Lydia Cacho is awarded France's Order of the Legion of Honor

Journalist and activist Lydia Cacho was named "Knight of the Legion of Honor," with honors for her humanitarian work and the great value of her reporting. Cacho, according to the Government of France, is an exemplary citizen, who risks her life on a daily basis working for justice, peace and human rights for women and children in Mexico and around the world. She was honored by Elisabeth Beton Delegue, Ambassador of France in Mexico, representing the President of the French Republic, François Gérard Georges Netherlands.

March 8 is a symbolic day for all women in the world, since it’s the day they are commemorated. This is the reason why the French government has chosen this date to recognize Lydia Cacho’s work.
