Gabriel Ebensperger was born on June 16th, 1983 in Viña del Mar, Chile. Ever since he was a little boy, he was interested in drawing, painting and photography, but never learned how to play soccer very well. He studied graphic design at the Catholic University of Valparaíso. Over the past several years his illustrations have appeared in several Chilean and international publications and has worked with local ad agencies and film production companies such as Fábula ("No," "Gloria," "Princesita") and Sobras ("Hazlo Como Hombre"). Between 2009 and 2015 he illustrated, every two weeks, the interview section of Paula magazine where he was, additionally, art director between 2014 and 2015. In 2015 he left his life in Santiago and he returned to his hometown where he worked on his first book, the graphic memoir Gay Gigante, that later won him the Colibrí Medal Award (abby Chile) for Best Graphic Novel of 2016. He currently works by the sea, currently touching up the last details of his first children's book, The Book of Sadness, and working on the follow up to Gay Gigante: the illustrated novel Planetarium.
